CE High Throughput Screening

Proprietary CE Assay Screening Technology

The Cetek CE Assay is a drug discovery screening technology that provides valuable information early in the screening process, and integrates with all types of drug sources. The patented CE Assay, based on high resolution capillary electrophoresis, can be used to screen a broad range of molecular disease targets, including genomic and proteomic targets that have not been accessible with conventional technologies. The CE Assay provides considerable advantages, including operation at nanoscale, ultra-sensitivity, a highly flexible format, minimal target manipulation, and unequaled ability to avoid background sample interference.

Key Strengths of Cetek’s CE Assay Technology

OPPORTUNITIES

Access challenging targets:

New targets from genomics and proteomics not amenable to conventional HTS

Promising conventional drug targets for which assay development is difficult

Targets for which reagents are limited, expensive or should not be modified

CE ADVANTAGES

Broadly applicable, including orphan targets (unknown function); protein-protein or protein-nucleic acid targets

Multiple formats increase assay development success rate

High resolution separation to distinguish and ensure selectivity, and to interface well with complex drug sources like natural extracts

High sensitivity, robust with minimal reagent and sample consumption

High throughput

Due to its ability to screen complex mixtures readily minimal background interferences, the CE Assay can uniquely access broad chemical diversity, including natural products,. This is achieved by the CE Assay’s unique combination of extremely high separation power and sensitivity The assay is compatible with pure compounds, compound mixtures, and natural products. Biologically active molecules with three-dimensional structures, such as those produced in nature, are frequently necessary to modulate more complex targets emerging from advances in genomic, proteomic and nucleic acid research. In addition, the CE Assay’s direct affinity format combined with a simple readout allows screening of targets (e.g., protein-protein interactions) normally difficult or impossible with other screening formats. Cetek has established a successful track record in drug screening through service relationships with many of the major biopharmaceutical companies, including Johnson & Johnson, Lexicon Genetics, Schering-Plough, Taisho and Millennium Pharmaceuticals. Cetek has screened over 150 client drug targets encompassing a variety of classes. These campaigns have resulted in the discovery of a number of important drug lead compounds across a broad range of therapeutic areas.

The CE Assay Easily Detects Modulators
of Protein-Peptide (Protein) Interactions

The CE Assay detects an inhibitor of an important protein-peptide interaction involved in cancer. MDM2 Ubiquitin Ligase (Protein)-p53 (Peptide) form an easily detectable complex that is disrupted by a potential drug compound (Inhibitor).
